Heating your home is nearly 50% of the cost of home energy needs. Preforming a DIY Assessment will allow you to develop an
Energy Reduction plan based upon the dollars and time you are able to invest.

Although it may seem like common sense, covering drafty windows by…

  • Taping clear plastic film to the inside of your window frames during the cold winter months will reduce the amount of heat escaping from your home.
  • Make sure the plastic is sealed tightly to the frame to help reduce the amount of cold air coming in.
  • Install tight-fitting, insulating drapes or shades on windows that feel drafty after weatherizing.

Be sure to take advantage of the energy from thesun by opening curtains on your south-facing windows during the day to allow sunlight to naturally heat your home. Remember to close your curtains at night to reduce the chill you may feel from cold windows.

Next post we will discuss finding and sealing leaks.
