Are you staying warm in the cold weather?
January 6th, 2014 by admin
We haven’t seen the last of the cold temperatures. Tomorrow we might just see single digits.
A few TIPS from our Service Manager that will help keep your heating system running efficiently.
Once temperatures drop below 10 degrees some heat pumps will struggle to maintain the set temperature in the home. Check to see if:
- Your filter needs changed.
- Ice & snow or other debris is clear of the outdoor unit? If not, clear it at least one shovel width around it, also clearing the top of the unit.
- If you have an off peak (HK) system, check to see that this is turned on and is heating.
If you have a gas furnace, make sure there is no ice, snow or other debris blocking the PVC venting to the outside of the house. If you have added screening to prevent bugs from entering the vent pipes, please remove as frost can accumulate on this and cause the pressure switch to drop out resulting in no heat. This can also happen to gas boilers.
If you feel your system is still struggling, please call our service department to schedule one of our expert Service Technicians to take a look. 717-464-0111.
