Spring Comfort Maintenance Recommendations

After a long winter, Spring and sunny days are finally right around the corner. When you’re doing Spring Cleaning around your home, be sure and include these steps to get your home HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical components ready for the change in weather.

Clear Your Outdoor Unit

Over the winter months, foliage, trash, and other debris can build up around your outdoor unit. Gently clear any buildup or prune foliage back to allow a 2-foot clearance around your unit and help your HVAC system operate efficiently.

Schedule Your PTU

If you are due for a JK Precision Tune-Up or haven’t had preventative maintenance done on your heating & cooling system in some time, schedule your appointment with one of our service technicians today. Our trained and certified technicians will inspect, adjust, analyze, test and clean your equipment – top to bottom, inside and out.

Check Your Sump Pump

April Showers may bring spring flowers, but they can also bring flooding and disruption to your home. If you have a sump pump, now is the time to check and be sure that it is in good working condition, clean, and unobstructed. If you have a JK Plumbing Agreement with JK Mechanical, your yearly inspection includes checking out your sump pump in addition to your main water valve, drains, and other essential components. Sign up today to schedule your annual inspection.

Bonus tip: If you rely on a sump pump to keep your home dry but experience frequent power outages, your home may be at risk of flooding if power to the sump pump is lost. Installing an automatic standby generator can help ensure that your sump pump, well pump, freezer and other essential items are all powered, even when you aren’t home.

Replace Your Air Filter

Spring can be a mixed blessing for those who suffer from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory concerns. If you aren’t due for your next Precision Tune-Up, you may still want to check your air filter. JK Mechanical recommends changing standard filters every 1-3 months depending on various factors in your home.

Test & Check Smoke Detectors

Daylight Savings begins on Sunday, March 8th and is a great reminder to check all of the batteries in your smoke and CO2 detectors throughout your home. Don’t have a CO2 detection system? JK Electricians recommend the NEST protect system for on-the-go peace of mind.
